Welcome to Human Rights Observers
Human Rights Observers is an independent, watchdog which aims to document and denounce the State violence perpetrated against displaced people at the France-UK border.

Our Mission
Our modus operandi resembles copwatching. We are present as often as possible during police operations and especially during evictions of informal living sites, in order to document these practices. In addition to these observations, the people who live in the camps often report being victims of numerous instances of police violence.

"Four policemen came back to see us, they destroyed our tent. They were carrying a document, but we couldn’t understand."
"My friend and I were brutalized by the police. I had a broken tooth. They also unleashed their dogs, whom attacked us without a muzzle."
"They say they have this court document, I don't know what it means. They cut down all the tents and they take us away... and some policemen say racist things, they do bad things with us."
